Pastor's Sermon Notes

Delve deeper into the sermon! Two groups use the pastor's sermon notes each Sunday morning - 7:30am in the Fireside Room before the sermon is preached and 10:30am in the Patio Room after the 1st service. The notes are sent to all participants in advance to prepare for group discussion. Pick up a copy at the Kiosk to see a sample. Join us! Traces of Grace Writing Group

Meets on Wednesday, November 15th in Room 5 from 10am to noon.      

Special Needs Dance

Join us on Friday, November 17th, 7-9:30pm, in Zirbel Hall for our Fall Special Needs Dance, an evening of fun for people with developmental disabilities. D.J. Wayne Harrington plays great music. Bring refreshments to share! Please call Pam at 562/430.8343 for information.      

An Evening with C.S. Lewis

Tickets for the one man play, An Evening with C.S. Lewis, will be sold on the patio Sunday, November 12th. The performances will be on Friday, January 19th and Sunday, January 21st in our Sanctuary. Tickets are $20. All proceeds benefit Grateful Hearts, a nonprofit in Los Alamitos.       

Senior Adults

Annual Thanksgiving Dinner

The Annual Senior Thanksgiving Dinner will be Sunday, November 19th at 5pm in Zirbel Hall, followed by a musical program by the Sweetwater Creek Band in the Sanctuary. Make your reservations at the Senior Ministry table on the patio.    

Senior Adult Day Trip

Join us on Sunday, December 10th, 11:30am-5pm! Cost: $83. Lunch will be at the Northwoods Inn prior to attending the Young Americans performance "The Magic of Christmas" at the La Mirada Performing Arts Theater. Sign up at the Senior Ministry table on the Patio. Waiting list only. Email Carol Jaeger, Director of Senior Ministry, at carol@gspc.org with questions.

Meets on Wednesday, November 15th at 7pm at the home of Karen Vandervoet. Study Chapter 2.          

Women's Christmas Luncheon  

The Women's Christmas Luncheon "Recipes for Christmas" with Rev. Tamara John will be Saturday, December 2nd in Zirbel Hall. Sign up to be a table hostess and purchase tickets ($15) at the Women's Ministry table on the patio.

You won't want to miss "Ruth, A Love Story" with Dr. Bill Creasy from 8am to 2pm at St. Andrews Pres in Newport Beach. The Old Testament Book of Ruth gives us the story of unselfish, loving commitment between Ruth and her mother-in-law Naomi. Join in a day of armchair travel, fellowship, lunch and storytelling by Dr. Creasy, alongside women from Good Shepherd, St. Andrews, and Christ Pacific. Details and registration info coming soon! Monthly Quilters  

Meets on Monday, November 13th at 10am in the Round Room #4. All are welcome!       

Donut Server!  

The Deacon Hospitality Team is looking for a Server to hand out donuts after the second service. This position is for the 5th Sunday of the month-only about 3-4 times a year. Easy and fun! Contact Judy DiPiazza for more info: 562/472.5459 or jndipiazza@gmail.com.       

Christmas Cards  

Stop by the patio and pick up 3 Christmas cards to sign for our Good Shepherd ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY. Turn cards into the church office or at the table on the patio on November 12th and 19th. All cards due December 4th. Call Ginney at 562/505.1182 with questions.        

Coffee Host Needed  

The Deacon Hospitality Team is looking for a Coffee Host to serve once-a-month on the third Sunday. This is a behind the scenes job that helps Good Shepherd be a welcoming place for members and guests. Training provided. Thanksgiving Canned/Dry Goods Drive Continues

Volunteer Needed  

We are in need of a volunteer who would like to be part of a team of two and give an hour every other Friday to straighten the pews in the Sanctuary for Sunday worship. Training available! Please email Ellie in the church office at ellie@gspc.org or call 562/493-2553 ext. 200. Thank you!       

Thanksgiving Dinner Volunteers  

We are looking for a few great cooks for our annual Thanksgiving Dinner, from turkey to pies, rolls to stuffing. We need you! Please stop by the table on the patio to see what items are needed. Also servers and hosts are needed. Thank you in advance for your generosity in making this event a huge success for our church and community. Women's Luncheon Silent Auction  

Our silent auction, a major fundraiser for Women's Ministries, is coming up! Please donate your new or gently used items or gift cards to be included in the baskets. Attention all evles! Christmas adornment will take place Sunday, November 26th, after the 2nd service. A pizza lunch will be served. Get in the Christmas spirit! Everyone is welcome! 300 Toothbrushes Needed for Haiti!  

Donations are needed for the Haiti Mission Trip leaving January, 2018. We are collecting adult and children's toothbrushes.You may give them to Ken Purucker (562/594.6026) or leave them at the church office or the Senior Table on the patio on Sunday. Ken will pick them up. Many thanks!!
